Calgary's rental market continues to see rising costs due to record migration and a housing shortage. Rent in Calgary has increased by 22% over the past two years, with one-bedroom units averaging $1,708. The province of Alberta has also experienced significant rent growth. The Alberta NDP has proposed rent caps and vacancy control in response to the housing crunch, while the UCP opposes rent control.
