Calgary is set to demolish three vacant downtown buildings to create affordable housing. The properties, located on Fourth Avenue S.W., have been boarded up for years. The redevelopment will be managed by Cantiro Group, marking their second project in Calgary and their first under the city's demolition incentive program, which supports buildings deemed "end of life." Plans include a 33-storey mixed-use tower with around 340 rental units, including at least 50 affordable units, and retail space. The program offers grants for demolition costs.
